Directions

Parking

Museum Frello is located right in the centre of Varde, surrounded by many public parking spaces within a short walking distance. Some spaces have time-limited parking—so, in the town centre as a whole, a maximum of 2 hours—while others, e.g. the car park by Kulturspinderiet (Stålværksgrunden) with access from Vestervold, do not.

Accessibility

Museum Frello is housed in an old school building from 1856. To reach the museum’s main entrance, you go up an old granite stone staircase with relatively high steps and only one handrail. The accessible entrance, which has an automatic door and access to a lift, is located in the gable end of the main building. This door is normally locked, but can be used after contacting the museum by phone: +45 75 22 08 78.

Food and drink

As Museum Frello is located in the centre of town, there are plenty of exciting places to eat nearby—both directly opposite the museum, where you can enjoy wine and tapas, and at Varde Square and Otto Frello’s Square, where you will also find several great options.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to eat your own food at the museum. However, groups and school classes may, by arrangement, be allowed to eat packed lunches in our workshop. There are picnic tables around Varde Square, but if you would like more natural surroundings, Arnbjergparken is about a 1 km walk away, with a playground at Gellerupvej 49, 6800 Varde.

Shopping

In the Museum Frello shop, you can buy almost anything your heart desires. We naturally have a large selection of books, posters and postcards featuring Otto Frello’s motifs. We also sell high-quality clothing, jewellery and arts and crafts. Shopping is available during the museum’s opening hours.

This applies to primary schools, boarding schools, private schools, independent schools, upper secondary schools, technical colleges and business colleges. Please notify us of your arrival in advance and well before your visit, which also gives teachers and educators free admission.

We always recommend combining a visit with a learning programme either at the museum, out in the landscape, or at your school. Contact our education department, NaturKulturVarde – for contact details and inspiration, see more here.
