Horns Rev Wind Farm Center

Welcome to the exhibition about the Horns Rev 1, 2 and 3 offshore wind farms. Admission is free, and here you can explore how wind energy works – from the wind turbine all the way to your power socket.

Wind and Sea

Denmark has 13 established offshore wind farms, with more on the way (including Horns Rev 3, Kriegers Flak and the nearshore offshore wind farms). Vindeby Offshore Wind Farm was the world’s first offshore wind farm when it began generating electricity in 1991. It marked the beginning of the offshore wind industry.

Vindeby Offshore Wind Farm consisted of eleven turbines with a combined capacity of 5 megawatts – about the same as two turbines at Horns Rev 2. Since then, wind turbines have become much larger and more efficient. Today, a single wind turbine can generate more electricity than all the turbines at Vindeby combined. At Horns Rev 3, each offshore wind turbine has a capacity of 8.3 MW.

Offshore Wind for Children and Curious Adults

Discover wind energy and electricity generation at the Horns Rev Wind Farm Visitor Center.

Challenge each other to a fun memory game – who will win? You can also sit down and build your own LEGO wind turbines. The only limit is your imagination.

Afterwards, you can display your creations on the shelves. Turn a giant nut, crank the handle to generate electricity like a wind turbine, and use VR goggles to climb to the top of an offshore wind turbine.

The Visitor Center is operated by the energy companies Vattenfall, Ørsted and Energinet.
