Archive materials

At the core of HSB is a large body of material from the resistance movement from all corners of occupied Denmark. At HSB you can find Kaj Munk’s poems published by the resistance movement, proclamations from the Danish Freedom Council, thousands of underground newspapers, accounts by resistance members, letters from concentration camp prisoners – and much more.

However, HSB also holds personal archives, letters from ordinary Danes, research archives from renowned historians, and material from and about the post-war legal purge after the Occupation. In addition, there is German and Nazi material as well as Allied propaganda, including an almost complete collection of the British leaflets that were dropped over Denmark. Finally, HSB has a large collection of books about the Occupation and World War II.

By prior arrangement, interested visitors may consult archival material and books in HSB’s reading room. You are welcome to photograph archival records for your own use.

HSB continues to collect archival material related to the Occupation period, the 1930s, and the post-war legal purge, and is pleased to receive new material.
